Founded in 1946 the club celebrated its 70th Annual Show on 20th August 2016.  Many exhibitors braved the strong wind and rain to bring their exhibits to Hastings High School on the Saturday morning.  There were 120 dahlias in the BGC Dahlia Competition from 10 exhibitors and 651 entries in the Open Show from 102 exhibitors.  The main hall was filled with the Dahlia Championship, Floral Art, Cut Flower and Pot Plant classes and was a truly spectacular and colourful sight.  Once again the dahlias in the championship and open show overflowed the allotted spaces and some expert rearranging was required to fit them all in.  The Gymnasium was used to stage the Vegetable, Homecraft, Photography, Wine, Art and Craft and Children’s classes.  All classes were well supported with excellent quality exhibits throughout   The children did exceptionally well with 102 entries from just 18 children while the adults provided 647 exhibits from 84 exhibitors.

Dave Andrews from the BBC Down to Earth programme presented the prizes.

Work has already commenced on the 2017 show which will take place on Saturday 19th August at Hastings High School.  Schedules for the show will be available from May and a copy will be posted on the website.
